Mercy Medical systems opens a new manufacturing facility, developed by Rankin Development, in Republic, Missouri.
KY3 News, REPUBLIC, Mo. -- City leaders in Republic welcomed a new manufacturing facility.
ROI is owned by Mercy. ROi, or resource optimization and innovation, has been around for about a decade. The supply chain organization founded and owned by Mercy is now expanding to this new facility.
ROI currently owns a facility in northeast Springfield, but they needed more space. This new facility not only brings 100,000 square feet of a space, but also brings a lot of new technology and automation for the company. ROI employees package medical supplies that surgeons, doctors and nurses need for various procedures, such as a birth or an open heart surgery. The supplies go to Mercy as well as other health systems across the country.
The conveyor belts and automation here, plus the additional people they will be hiring to work at this facility will help ROI produce about four times their current production, up to 3 million packs of medical tool kits each year. The new building is located near the existing McLane building on the east side of Republic. This is an exciting addition for the city, which did a public-private partnership to bring the facility here.
"It speaks to the momentum we're seeing in the region and in this area, with McLane first and now ROI," said Republic City Manager David Cameron. "And now we have a street that opens up another six or seven more of these type of facilities, and there's already interest in those areas.
ROI is still working on getting everything ready to go here. It will move production over from the other facility in phases. It hopes to have all of their production moved to this facility by the end of summer.
